i found it really hard to be captivated by this, though there were many parts that i really enjoyed. the connection to motherhood and individuality and work and animalistic natures were all really interesting. i would like to watch the movie! i would love to re read this in the future and see what i take away now that i know what happens
While I understand what Rachel Yoder tried to do here with the physical and emotional labour of stay at home mother's I ultimately didn't really have a good time with this book 🤣
In the beginning, I thought I'd like it, but the story just kind of flatlined for most of the book, and the ending just plummeted 📉 lmao.
The kid was a total brat, and I'd just throw the whole husband away.
I also struggled with the animal deaths.
❗️SPOILERS ❗️up next.
I thought this was going to be empowering and full of newfound rage with some of the build-up at the beginning... but nothing of substance happens.
Her husband is trash, she finally asks him to do one thing, put their kid to bed, he agrees, and she's like "fuck yeah! even though my husband doesn't contribute or respect me, he's such a good husband. This was my fault, I just had to ask help."
Lmao. girl GTFO. 🙄 so instead of holding her husband accountable or at the very least eating him lol, she just proceeds to kill bunnies on stage. I thought it was kind of funny that in each of her late night performances, she finishes by bringing her son on stage.... so I guess the husband doing bedtime was short-lived?
Anyway, this is just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt. Read the books YOU want to read and form your own opinions🫶🏻❤️ reading is subjective, y'all.
