I hated this book. It was so cringey. I idea of collecting kisses as a young girl was creepy.

A thousand boy kisses, more like a thousand reasons to DNF. I thought I had read bad books before. Clearly, I was wrong. Not only was the writing bad, but it was unrealistic, cringeworthy, and boring.
This book was weird as hell. This book had a relationship with 8-year-olds...
But that wasn't even the most unrealistic part. So many things were so bad I had to laugh. Rune was so unrealistic. Like, who, at 15 or even eight, thinks that they have met their soulmate and then completely stops talking to your entire family because your dad had to move for work? Like, that's embarrassing. This book was a waste of my time. If I wasn't stubborn and didn't think that I had to finish everything I started, I would've saved a lot of time and a lot of being disgusted. You know, that is the best word to describe this book: disgusting.
This was a weird book, with weird characters and a weird plot. I didn't feel attached to the character, so I didn't care what happened to them. To be honest, the person I cared about the most was Rune's dad because he was such a nice person and all his son did was treat him like shit. If I were ever a parent, I would've not dealt with that, but that's besides the point. Another thing that pissed me off was the fact that sometimes they would cuss and other times they would say things like "fricking.". This book seems like it was written by a 17-year-old.
Everything about this was a no. I will not read the next book about her sister, and I will not read anymore Tillie Cole. I have better books to be focusing my time on. And this overused "girlfriend has a terminal illness" genre with poor writing will not be any of my future books that I will read.
If you like this book, read The Fault in Our Stars. Also, read better books with better writing. Like, maybe pick up a modern classic; no offense though.
Also, another thing that I found really weird was that this book was low-key misogynistic. Like near the end of the book, she starts saying how the only reason she ever smiled was because of her boyfriend. Like, that's a little strange. Like, are you saying the only reason you're happy is because of a boy?

A Thousand Boy Kisses Tilly Cole 🎧5⭐️
I had the audiobook of this young adult contemporary romance read by P J Ochlan and Katie Schorr, I especially loved the male narrator for Rune, but it wasn’t great for his young girl voice, this is only a short section.
I’m not the target audience but I found this love story so sad and emotional, the expression of emotion and love was beautiful, full of sentimentality, for me it managed not to be cliched just very moving. It’s one that I needed the tissues for as I was so invested in their story.
I loved both the main characters especially Rune.
I feel broken but in a good way if that’s possible after this book. I absolutely got drawn into it and loved the journey. It relies heavily on the belief of heaven which I was ok with, but might not be for everyone. I wish that the author hadn’t endorsed the use of Chinese lanterns due the environmental impact.
This one is in my books of the year.
Poppy (the main character) was gifted a jar by her grandma right before she passed away when she was 5. The jar was filled with empty hearts that she had to fill with 1000 kisses; First of all, she was literally nine years old. Second of all what kind of grandma would do that? To tell a young girl your only goal in life is 1000 kisses? Feels out dated but I get Tillie Cole’s intention. Third of all, she has her first kiss at 5?? Kinda a spoiler but not really: Lastly, they are FIFTEEN when they first sleep together. That is crazy and definitely made the story hard to read.
