I'm a sucker for a book about books, what a bonus that this one features the wonderfully sweet illustrations of author/illustrator Greg Pizzoli.

This the rare library-related book that actually has a plot and a problem that the character overcomes. I enjoyed reading this during my storytimes this week, and my appreciation for it grew as I saw parents' and children's reactions to it. It's fun to read it aloud dramatically, especially during the part about the pig having a secret. I was pleased that the audience was so engaged.

The illustrations are also unique and fun. The pig and elephant characters seem like a Mo Willems rip-off, but they're stylistically different, and I love the minimalistic color palette and many appealing details in the pictures.

Read for Librarian Book Group

Officially a story about a hog who loves books. I wonder if there is a hidden (or obvious) commentary about American practices of acquiring excessive amounts of things when we can't take full enjoyment from them.

July 2019 - a straightforward story about a pig who loves books but has a secret, celebrating books and reading. Ben is delighted by it, maybe because he's learning to read, too. I love the way the titles appear on the book spines at the end - it's so fun to spot some familiar titles and covers.

A super fun book about libraries, books and story time. Great for kids learning to read with an ending message that it’ll take time but they will eventually be able to read in their own.

OMG
That page
Where the book hog is reading on his moped
And the owl crossing guard
Is SO MAD

I also love this book
Because that shade of pink
Is the same color
As the watermelon freezes
From my Taco Bae
😂
