Note to author: ‘he drolls’ is terrible grammar. It’s not a verb, it should be ‘he says drolly’. Same with ‘he smarts’ the only thing that smarts is an injury! That’s why 2 stars and not 3. Also was way less angsty than the subject matter should have inspired.

Adorable super slow burn. I like how they find their way to each other and give what the other had been missing. Dead brothers boyfriend gay awakening

What a beautiful story.  The grief was so raw and real.  I really enjoyed the slow build of Julian and Deacon's relationship, complicated though it was.  I wanted to tear through this book, but also wanted to savor it.  My first book by this author and it won't be the last.

I am honestly not sure how I feel about this book. It's good, well written, has a few spicy scenes that are top-notch, and it's engaging. I think what I struggled with the most is the relationship between the two men and how it came about. It might just be me and the relationship with my in-laws, but I can't imagine falling for someone I have considered my sibling for YEARS. I'm sure it's possible, especially if you are as removed from your family as Deacon seems to be. I'm sure he never saw Julian as a brother, just his little brother's best friend and boyfriend. If you can get beyond that, though, it's a delightful and cute story. As far as the narration, it was almost impossible for me to distinguish between the two VA's voices and may as well have just been one.

Dear God this was such an emotional book. And so well written. I’m literally buying the physical copy as we speak.
Real actual wet tears happened from my eyes.
It was perfect.

Damn it doesn’t matter how many times I re read this I always cry.
Deacon is perfect. So is Julian. I love it

liked this one!! it was emotional in a raw good way, instead of being too intense.
