The idea was a strong four stars but the execution was just awful :-(. Too obviously autobiographical with an “edge”. Just icky.
I guess maybe I'm just the wrong audience for this book. Maybe it's being older, I don't really know. When I read the description of this book I thought it would be a light, fun, humorous, easy read. It's anything but that. The author tries to be cute and witty in the writing style, but it comes off as painfully bad. It's over the top absurd. The characters were equally unlikeable. I caught glimpses of where I think the author wanted to go, but it never lands.
What I did like about the book was the title and book cover. Both great. But having said that, Been There and Don't Want to Go Back Again!!!
My thanks to the author, St. Martin's Press and netgalley for a copy of this book in each for an honest review.

This book is a case of bad beginning, okay middle, and bad ending. I was about ready to stop reading after two chapters, but I pushed on and the book started to pick up. Then as I neared the end of the book I found myself speed reading just to hurry and get it over with. I liked the snarkiness and dry wit of the main character Agnes, but that was about all there was to like about her. I also enjoyed her sister, Fin, but those two characters were the only likable ones in the whole book. And there were a lot of characters. Too many. And speaking of too many, the cringy moments of this book really mucked up the storyline. The plot had potential, hence the reason I kept reading, but the author missed so many opportunities and left out way too many details that could have made this book so much better. Would it work if you wanted something mindless to read by the pool or on the beach? Absolutely. But I don't think I could recommend this book and still have people trust my bookish opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the advanced copy in return for my honest review.

I received an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book had my interest from the description. Unfortunately it was a difficult read. I never connected with any character. Maybe that was the point but it felt like the author was trying to write for a reality tv show and those aren’t my cup of tea either.

I liked this book but it was a little slow. It had fun adventures but felt a bit predictable but not in a way that you felt the need to keep reading!
I did finish it though!

This book is a lighthearted novel about the Hollywood "behind the curtain of celebrity society" and considering how much I love all of the Real Housewives franchises, I thought I would love this book. However, it seems like the entire cast of characters are unlikable, and as a reader, I kept thinking that the main character Agnes was the only sane character in the book (aside from Gabi and the Triplets), I kept second guessing her normalness since she continues to be plagued with one outrageous scenario after another without much of a will to fight back. I overall enjoyed the story but I think it would have been more concise with fewer crazy characters with a goal of making the overall story much stronger.
Been There, Married That is a wild ride. The pacing is frantic. It reads like you are grabbing pages out of a whirlwind. Yet, I didn’t want to put it down. There’s something about getting the inside dirt on the Hollywood chosen that appeals to people.
I felt like the story could have been told a little better. However, for a quick, mindless read, it serves its purpose well.
There is a bit of Hollywood tell-all, name-dropping, wifely-revenge, and fun characters. It was an enjoyable story and I would recommend it. I felt I had to remove 1 Star for the frenetic pace.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

This is a spectacularly bad book for so many reasons. DNF, but I made it 40 percent through and feel like I should get a trophy for that.
In really good novels, while I’m reading, I forget that there is an author who sat at her desk day after day after day constructing the book because I’m so lost in the story. The writing in this novel very noticeably calls attention to itself. There are good lines, but I can envision the author at her desk, smiling at her own cleverness.
Agnes is a writer who married a Hollywood big shot. One day she comes home to her palatial mansion to find she’s been locked out. Is divorce next?
I don’t care because Trevor is a horrible man. If your criteria for a good husband is that he’s good looking, rich, and successful, yes, Trevor’s your guy. If what you care about in a husband is that he’s a good human who treats you well, he’s a self-absorbed dick. I care much more about the latter, so of course she shouldn’t get back with him. Even if he didn’t cheat, he LOCKED HER OUT OF THE HOUSE INSTEAD OF HAVING A CONVERSATION LIKE AN ADULT HUMAN BEING THAT HE WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THEIR MARRIAGE.
He sends her to rehab because she eats too many almonds. She actually goes. WTF? Only for a day, but then he can say she’s been to rehab, which of course implies a drug/alcohol problem. I had to stop there because It was all too stupid for words.
I got this book from NetGalley. It RELEASES FEBRUARY 11, 2020.

After a string of dark thrillers, I thought this would be a silly, lighthearted read about a divorcé in Hollywood. Well, Agnes (the divorcé) is really just a horrible person who was married to a man-child and has surface-level friendships with a lot of other not-great-characters. I didn’t feel connected to anyone.
I guess it’s funny, but has very little depth and a lot of vulgarity. Definitely not my thing.
