Gay shit and pirates - what else do you need to know? Seriously though this is a really well-written novel with interesting worldbuilding, characters and a good story even outside of the gay shit, but that part is also really well done. I'm always a sucker for stories where the POV character is different every chapter or so (sometimes one character sticks for a few chapters) and this does it really well. Good read.

I think the premises of this book were great, it had a lot of potential, but in the end it was kind of underwhelming.
There was a lot of action, but the pacing wasn't that good, and I didn't felt connected to the characters. The hate-to-love's trope was a bit clumsy and the slow-burn wasn't really worth it my opinion. All the plot lines were nicely tied, but again, lot of missed opportunities for great scenes.
Also, the writing wasn't bad but some mistakes and repetitions kept taking me out of the story.

I wish there were more romantic scenes or times the two are actually together. But I love pirates and love ladies so I just had to read this!

3 1/2 rounded up.

Was pretty good. I’m not usually into historical type of books but for someone one who doesn’t frequent them this wasn’t a bad read.

I really wanted to love this book but unfortunately the romance and the characters in general just didn't do it for me. As someone who needs a good slow burn to feel for a pairing, the pacing of the actual romance part was too fast for me - one page they hate each other and the next they're in love - and there was a lack of chemistry between Cat and Lily for me. I also would have loved to see more diversity and piracy all around.

Escape to Pirate Island is my favorite lesfic that I read in 2018. I loved the story, the characters, the action, and even the villains. There were some really good villains to hate on. I will definitely keep my eyes open for more books written by Niamh Murphy.
