Cute novella. Great for young readers or reading aloud.

I read this book as a read aloud to my daughter as a bedtime read the last few nights. She and I both loved this sweet story about Sophie, Hattie and making new friends. A great story for kids with a good message wrapped up in a fun read. Looking forward to reading more of Sophie’s adventures with my daughter!

My 6 year old and I read it together--she loved it and wants to read more of the series.

I read this aloud to my kindergartener son. It is very sweet and my outdoorsy son really loved the natural setting. He immediately asked me to read the next in the series, which I will gladly do. I really like these types of books for him. They are chapter books, but heavy with pictures and larger font. They don’t require the attention span needed for older chapter books. But at the same time, he feels like he is getting a more substantial story like his older brothers would read. This series would be good for a child who is looking for something a little chunkier than an emergent reader but not quite ready for a more text-heavy book. As an independent read, it would probably be appropriate for late 1st grade to middle 2nd grade.

I had never heard of these books before, but apparently there are a lot of them! There are pictures on every page which are great for the young ones. My oldest child (age 7) really liked it, but my younger two didn't care much. My oldest wants to read book two, but if he hadn't requested I would not have gone on with this series.
