This collection of short stories was difficult to follow in many cases. I read this for Cross-Contemporary Literature and had a hard time digesting and dissecting some of the stories. It was informative and I found it helpful read this particular collection at this moment in time while the Israeli-Gaza conflict ensues.

A compelling collection of short stories. As every story is focused on a single place, it helps to have some knowledge of the history of Ramallah. This necessity is emphasised due to the length of the stories, which precludes extensive exposition or contextualisation.

The translations just felt a bit off the grid. You knew something was missing, albeit it delivered the stories. It talked metaphors in a surface level, again I blamed the work of translations.
