Second novel in the series and this time Ruby's mission is at sea. Pirates, sea monsters and a quirky villain a perfect mix for a kids book.
Re-reading these novels as an adult has helped re-affirm why I loved them as a kid. There full of fun and adventure and having a female lead as a
young girl is/was inspiring to me. Especially growing up as a young girl and reading how a character that could be called a ''geek'' is cool
and how that is used to her advantage as well. I love how all the novels have codes to crack that are all related to the theme of the novel itself.
Designed in a fun and active way. The whole plot in general makes it my favourite novel out of the entire series. Who doesn't want to fight a
sea creature under water and be a spy at that age. The fact the plot line links back to her family history as well makes it all the more interesting
and this time her best friend Clancy gets in with all the action. Which I love as a platonic girl and boy friendship is one of my favourite troupes/plot lines
to read about. Overall a lovely read especially if you want to escape for a while and although a kids book as an adult I know I will still keep
coming back to read over and over again.
