Caught between feeling exposed and feeling seen after reading this delightful book. Saw it on the tables @ Barnes and Noble in February, and treated myself to its online version because of Coronavirus. Hilarious, heart-warming, and socially conscious.

So enjoyed this book-especially now that I'm retired and don't have to deal with all the "goings on" described in this fictional (but oh, so true to life)story set in a high school in Texas. Its amazing and sad to know that these events are taking place daily in elementary, middle and high schools all around the country! Teacher friends, you would REALLY relate to this book. :)

A peek into what it's like to be a teacher.

Even though I teach at the elementary level, many of the issues in teaching are universal. I admit to feeling quite a bit of anxiety while reading this. I was quite satisfied by the ending, however. A worthwhile read for teachers or anyone wondering what it's like inside a teacher's head.

This funny novel really captures the true life of a teacher, beginning with a delightful send up of the back to school teacher meetings. Perhaps my favorite line was the one about the copier had been broken for a week, though the scene that follows is also wonderful. All of the acronyms, jargon and school reform silliness are over the top, but hit too close too home. Most of all, I really appreciate that teachers are shown as succeeding and failing in all the little ways we do.
