Haven't read anything with a male main character in a bit (how refreshing to be able to say that), so I enjoyed this morally grey yet lovable protagonist's redemption story. However my favorite character overall was Mango the cat, and how she both held TJ accountable to his sobriety and helped uncover clues as the story unravelled.
This is like Succession but if the mom was alive and all the characters genuinely cared about each other.

This was a decent and easy read. Giving it a 7.5/10. An intriguing book from the beginning about white collared crime, this book has many layers regarding topics such as addiction, family lies, and justice. It definitely had you rooting for the main character from the beginning and made you hope he managed to figure everything out and get his life back on track. It wasn’t a mind blowing read but was definitely well written and interesting enough, with a few unexpected twists! I would recommend it for an easy, engaging read.

This was a great book filled with family drama and more. I honestly couldn’t put it down.
A fun, quick read with interesting characters--wish it were a series as I'd read more about TJ or Gabby for sure! Moves quickly. A little shallow in spots: feels a bit cleaned up as far as violence/ swearing/reality goes, but still: a fun, zippy PI/family secrets/ legal thriller.
I didn't expect this to be SO MUCH about AA, but it works, it works really well.
This has an immediate hook that grabs the reader, but I kind of wish you learned more about what was going on a little faster.
After the visit to the beach house things take off and don't stop, and I appreciate that before you get to the beach house the characters have to have growth and trouble, or the book loses since of the impact. But still, I kind of wish we could have gotten there a little sooner.
But that would have meant less character growth, and that would be unfair to the characters themselves.
