*Bookish First Review*
This year I have decided to read more true crime books and after reading this blurb I wanted to check this book out. The story had a slow start and I felt it focused too much on the little things that weren't really relevant to the story.
Then as I kept reading the story picked up and I can't believe this really happened. I didn't really care for Dave as I read. My heart broke for Nancy as she searched for answers about her daughter.
I know my review is vague but I don't want to spoil anything for the readers.
This was my first time reading a book by Leslie Rule and it wasn't a bad read. The story was able to hold my attention. I just felt that the beginning was slow and the last few chapters were sort of rushed. Overall, I wouldn't be against reading another book by this author.

Leslie Rule's first true crime book is just as good as any written by her mother Ann. While I thought it went into to much detail at times (we don't need to be told how Facebook works), it did show the amount of research that went into this story. It was a well told story of how a woman manipulated almost everyone that came into her life, leading to murder, stalking & lies.

A riveting audiobook. Great narration and in depth coverage of a bonkers case. Some of it felt a little biased but overall a gripping story.

Incredible! Much like the style of her mother, Ann Rule, Leslie Rule lays out the information you need to know without boring you and jumping into the action at just the right time. With a suspenseful build up and well-crafted story telling, it’s like every true crime podcast you’ve ever loved but in book form. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would definitely read more of Leslie’s work!

I love true crime. I am an avid listener to true crime podcasts. I was very much looking forward to this book. It did not disappoint. What a crazy story of obsession, jealousy and then murder. It is scary what can happen with social media if one is not careful. You never know who you are communicating with. It could be anybody. It could happen to any of us. The killer was able to fool law enforcement for years (pretending to be her victim online for 3 years!). The killer sent over 20,000 e-mails to Dave, the girls he has dated, the victims family and friends. Some seemed to catch on and were suspicious but Dave seemed to never believe I guess. Thankfully, this killer was figured out and brought to justice thanks to the dedicated detectives on this case. I am glad the family was able to get justice for their daughter. The book was well written and I enjoyed it. I received this book from bookishfirst for my honest opinion.
