This book was a ride and a half. I couldn’t put it down , start to finish it held me. Kiera and Gerard had such chemistry and her almost immediate submission to him
Surprise
I went into this mostly blind and expecting it to be something completely different. I expected a dark romance with some cowboy themes and instead got a very well written, very spicy, cowboy/mountain love story.
I stumbled on this book through a silly dark romance bingo post on IG and didn’t really have too high of hopes. There’s always that risk when you don’t look at other reviews or even the dang synopsis.

I really wanted to enjoy this book, but it just didn't fully work for me. It took me a few days to read it because I kept getting tired of the constant smut and I couldn't connect to the characters. I really like BDSM romances, but it needs to have more depth and connection. I guess it is hard to live up to the way Pam Godwin does it. I also realized I like BDSM, but I am not into the full-time D/s dynamic. I do not like it when the day to day life is centered around BDSM.
This book just really dragged on and on. I was skimming most of the last 50% because it was just non-stop sex with no emotional connection. I was bored with the sex and their dynamic. I also do not like degradation at all and I hated how he talked to her.
Then after the third act suspense element it just kept going with multiple sex scenes. I felt like it was never going to end.
Also, how many times do we need to mention the smell of her pomegranate hair?

The storyline was a little predictable, but I enjoyed the changing relationship between Sovereign and Keira. I love a good cowboy, and the darker cowboy was a nice change.
