I have mixed feelings about this one. I liked the plot, but the spice actually took me out of it. There was a big chunk in the middle that I just skimmed through because it was spice, after spice after spice and it got to be a bit overwhelming. The character development with the FMC was amazing though and I loved that aspect!

This is definitely a dark romance. Gerard is willing to do any and everything to get what he wants. I wanted just a bit more story to this, not just towards the end of the book. The spice was fire, I just needed a bit more depth to the story.

Truthfully it’s giving Yellowstone if it was written as a nsfw dom/sub erotica? and I still don’t know how I feel about it. Like, I liked it? But I also was screaming at the fmc to stand up- like please dear god find a backbone. Was it hot? yes absolutely, but it was kinda one of those things where if it happened irl i’d run screaming the other way- feminism goes here to die and if you can just like shut your brain off and ignore that then yes you’d like it. Kinda reminds me of Anne Malcom’s books so if you like those you’d love this! I did end up really enjoying it towards the end!
i’d also like to note I have a harder time reading super intense dom/sub books that are set in like a normal universe- like put it in a fantasy novel or in a reality so unreachable I can’t imagine me in its place because half the time I end up reading it as if i’m listening to my best friend tell me about her shitty boyfriend and i’m just screaming internally to get the fuck up and grow spine or I feel like i’m on a first date with a “alpha” male who tells me how he expects us to follow traditional roles and for me to submit to him
