The sequel is NEVER better. Unless you're Margaret Owen, I guess. Damn.

I liked this as much as the first, or maybe more since I thought the romance was very cute (and portrayed in a consensual and thoughtful way). I didn’t remember much of the first book, but it mostly came back to me or was subtly told to me, though I worry I’ll forget it all again before the next one is published. The ending is as per the second book of a trilogy, so there’s that.

I adore this series. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like the second book. It felt disjointed and there were too many details and side quests for me to keep in my brain as I listened. But this is where Margaret Owen is a genius: I as the reader had to discover the tapestry from each written thread just like the FMC and I can’t say that I saw the whole of the tapestry before it was woven together for me. My heart constantly breaks and re-mends in this book and I’m so looking forward to the third installment!
