I went into this not realizing it was a companion to an already complete series. But even without having read the other books, I loved this! Perfect balance of of an action-filled plot and smutty romance. I'm looking forward to the release of the second book.

Wren & Torj are serving up all the tension and longing with this forced proximity body guard situation 🥵

So glad to be continuing the world of Thezmarr😍
The Midrealms have my whole heart ❤️‍🔥⚔️
I love the different pace and dynamics in this book compared to Legends, Wren is a different kind of FMC I love seeing more of, soft spoken, intelligent understated but still a badass in her own way. Torj is the hottest golden retriever body guard in the midrealm’s and he’s got it bad for our alchemist/poisioner/princess. He gives a master class in yearning while torn by duty, but maybe he needs to get better at communicating? Don’t all men?!
I love the healing journey Wren goes on throughout this book, while maintaining her success at Devenor Academy  and balancing the onslaught of challenges posed by the academy and outside forces. She really grows into her power and what she’s meant to offer the mid realms, while making new friends and working toward her goal of Master Alchemist and finding balance in all of her relationships, and managing her grief from the Shadow War.
This one really pulled at my heartstrings and took me on an emotional rollercoaster in the best way.
That ending has me so shook I need book 2 immediately!
I’ll be staring at the wall until I get my claws on it 🫠

Had no idea that this was based on another series when I picked it up on Libby, so that explains why it felt as though I was missing a lot of context/character introductions. Enjoyable despite this - had fun predicting what was going to happen next because it definitely followed a lot of the standard romantacy tropes (not necessarily a bad thing). Devastating ending that I probably should've seen coming. Honestly a little annoyed by the lack of communication between characters in the last 5 or so chapters. Glad I have a new series to work on next!

Interesting concept, just didn't quite connect with it like I was hoping I would. Some parts dragged way too long, like 15% - 60% or so. Really hot during some scenes though. Not enough time spent in the trials / explaining them. Not sure if I will continue this series

Sequel to The Legends of Thezmarr similar to The Court of Silver Flames vibe but milder.
Wren as Nesta and Torj as Cassian up to 80% with a big cliffhanger in the end.

It’s a good extention to the original series, and majority of characters appear as well such as Thea, Wilder, but mostly Kipp and Cal.

Looking forward to the next one
