Wasn’t bad but you definitely need to read the blood and steel series before this one. Although I have, it was a year ago and I had no clue what was happening at the start

If you haven’t read this yet, GO GET IT! Helen Scheuerer has outdone herself! Iron & Embers is a continuation of sorts of the Legends of Thezmarr series, which, by the way, I also HIGHLY recommend. I believe you can start this book without reading the previous, but it would be best to read the first series to understand some of the important backstory.

Wren is a storm-wielder and an alchemist, already impressive in her knowledge and abilities. Her dream is to attend Drevenor Academy and become a Master Alchemist. But there are threats and danger of which she is unaware.

Torj, the Bear-Slayer, is the Warsword assigned to protect her. There is a connection to Wren he never expected nor can understand.

I really enjoyed Wren and Tor's story!

As someone who didn't finish The Legends of Thezmarr series (whoops 😬), I was still able to really enjoy this story, which takes places 5 years after that series ends. Loved Wren's growth throughout the story, her power/alchemy, and enjoyed the school-setting and high-stake trials! Her and Tor's story was great but the end nearly broke me!! I need book 2 now 😅

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC of this audiobook - all opinions are my own!
