Hollis Woods, Josie, Beatrice, Stephen, The Old Man. Vignettes and portraits told in snippets as we see through eyes that maybe aren't ours (or aren't ours anymore) to see the details that are so easy to miss in the blur of living.

Giff tells a lovely story of being found and accepting who you are and what you can be when you let others in.

A quick read. It caught my attention right from the beginning and held it through to the end. A touching, insightful story about a girl who has her walls up and learns to let them down and let love in.

What's not to love about a story where a twelve year old girl, who is clearly a tenderhearted softy, spends much of the time trying to convince the reader that she is tough? Hollis is reactive to the many wounds inflicted onto her by others and in her reactivity inflicts the largest wound onto herself. This story of perseverance, healing, forgiveness and above all vulnerability is as tenderhearted as the main character.

this book has always been one of my favorites, it's not a very challenging read but the story is one that will pull at your heart in ways that are truly magical. I highly recommend reading it.

What a BEAUTIFUL story!!! It is so well written. I love how the two stories intertwine and come together. Such a wonderful book to end 2014.
