This book had me rooting for the bad guy because the main character was so boringly privileged. I believe the purpose of the book is to highlight class disparity but the main character was a bore and his problems seemed trivial with his abundance of privilege.
another great story about how everything can change by one incident. I really like this author!

I was torn by this one. I liked it, but sometimes I just did not feel I needed quite that level of detail about Henry's life. And why are McEwan's books so very hard to get into?
I really loved this book. There are some really important subcurrents running through that I'm sure will take a second read to unravel. The main character was really well fleshed out and the story really kept me moving along even though it was containted only in the space of one day. Just as good as Atonement.
It took quite a few pages to get me going on the book, but once I got into the groove of things, I couldn't put it down!
Being from NYC, I understand the post- 9/11 mindset and appreciate some of those elements. What aside, the story was very well written and I feel that I know Henry like a good friend.

Much better than lessons. I enjoyed the plot of the story as much as the political and social commentary. The final chapter pondering on life was a nice end to the book.
