I was really excited to get into this. But the first half of the book felt a little too slow going for me. The last part of the book got my attention because I had my suspicions but I wasnt sure of the reasons so that was fun. Might pick up more books in the future!

I gave Murder at the Bookstore by Sue Minix 3.75 stars.
Crime writer Jen returns to her small hometown with a bestselling book behind her and a bad case of writer’s block. Finding sanctuary in the local bookstore, with an endless supply of coffee, Jen waits impatiently for inspiration to strike.
But when the owner of the bookstore dies suddenly in mysterious circumstances, Jen has a real-life murder to solve.
The stakes are suddenly higher when evidence places Jen at the scene of the crime and the reading of the will names her as the new owner of the bookstore…

This was a good start to a new series. The mystery was intriguing and there were some nail-biting moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. However, I did figure out whodunit early on, but I was still curious about the motive.
I liked that the author included snippets from the book Jen is writing. I hope we get to read more about her job in the upcoming books. That is something I really enjoy about cozy mysteries, the mundane life. I am also looking forward to seeing how Jen is dealing with becoming an owner of a bookstore.
This book comes out January 19.
Thank you Net Galley and Avon Books UK for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

meh.
I was constantly annoyed with the main character and her stupid decisions. Not my favorite read; however, the plot overall was decent.

A great murder mystery set around a small town book shop. When the owner is murdered, best friend and best selling debut author Jen, who is trying to write a second book, starts trying to work out who did it.
I found this to be a really enjoyable read, it was easy to get completely engrossed and I look forward to reading more from this author. There were some fun red herrings and some fun characters.

This book was fast paced and a good one,, but there were so many characters that I couldn't really keep up with them!! Also the ending was kind of predictable..
it's a first book of a series that I don't see my self continuous reading in the future to be honest!

I expected cozy murder mystery, and yes that was only because of the cover. But I got a cold, predictable murder mystery. I have to admit that I don't think murder mysteries are for me. But based on my enjoyment I will still give it a two stars which is on the lower end for me. Maybe should have DNFed it?
