I honestly dont know why i kept listening. The characters were unlovable and fought over everything, this was not my cup of tea.

This book has good moments and bad moments.
The writing really irritated me. There were a lot of mistakes that should have been caught in editing, and I know this is in every book, but I feel like it was especially bad towards the end and that the way Hall writes didn’t help. It seems that he likes to makes up words when there are words for what he’s describing already in existence. I get that this is part of the humour of the book, but at times it really takes away from the story. It feels lazy and dumbs down the writing. I think it might be written this way to also keep in with Luc’s character, but it doesn’t always seem to fit and just becomes annoying.

I’m really glad that Oliver doesn’t feel like he fits in with the LGBTQ+ community and that this gets addressed. I don’t feel that Lucien handles it well or that he is as accepting of Oliver as he should be. The LGBTQ+ community can be quite loud and not everyone who is part of the community feels the desire to put rainbows on everything or brandish a specific flag so that the world knows their identity and/or sexuality. I think Oliver is completely valid in how he feels and I think the LGBTQ+ community needs to be more accepting of people who don’t want to be loud and proud,  but instead want to live a quiet life just being who they are. One aspect of Oliver’s identity doesn’t define everything about him and Lucien needs to understand that.

I want to give a huge shout out to the quote “your pain matters, even if other people have it worse.” I think that this is a very important thing for people to remember. Society loves to remind people that others have it worse, but pain is valid. I love this line and that this was addressed. I think it needs to be acknowledged more by society.

The story was fun and I enjoyed getting back with the characters. I liked the set up and going to all the different weddings. While not a fan of the writing, I still enjoyed the stories. Some important topics were brought up and there were some things that I disagreed with. I expected this book to be a long winded back and forth about whether or not Lucien and Oliver would get married and that’s exactly what it was. I hope the next book can bring a bit more oomph to the story and characters.

This book was so goofy lol. If you are looking for plot, I recommend the first book instead. I still enjoyed it because I love these characters, and the author does a great job of highlighting their complexities in a humorous way. This is not realistic at all, but I think it was still well done.
