this one isn't quite the same caliber as "bet me", but at the same time, it is FUN. i laughed out loud in several spots (the "limb of Satan" insult is a particular favorite as well as the names of the flamingos). it is comfort food for your brain.

I’m having a run of books I find boring and DNF (20% this time). Maybe it’s me?! I’m the problem?

One of my favorite books. A comfort read for when I'm so irritated that nothing else will cut through. Probably my favorite of the Crusie partnership books. Agnes and Shane are the best.

Jennifer Crusie always makes me laugh, and throw in Bob Mayer and I know I'm going to love the book. I was a little disappointed not to have discovered any new music in this book. If I remember correctly, Agnes is a fan of the Dixie Chicks, as I already am. So I'll wait for the next Crusie/Mayer book to see what they have in store for me.

I found Agnes and the Hitman to be a lively and raucous listen for the car. When it comes to books on CD, I can't always take serious and profound pieces of literature. While I gave this only 2 stars, it was a nice and entertaining fit for extended drives.

Agnes is a food columnist caught in a battle to keep her house and livlihood. Pitted against the a take-no-prisoners rival and possibly the mob, Agnes gets in over her head. Luckily the dreamy hitman Shane comes into the picture to help her straighten things out.

The writing and plot definitely made this light fare. It's pure escapist entertainment, often funny, but without much substance. The characters are enjoyable and the authors create quite a few truly funny scenarios. Recommended for those looking for a mix of light/funny intrigue and romance.

A fun little book I picked up on a whim. The characters were colorful, the few sex scenes dirty, and the story had a few twists I didn't see coming. I don't recommend the audio version only b/c the production of the "asides" or personal thoughts of the characters drove me crazy.

I liked this better than the authors' first collaboration, although I’m not quite sure why. Maybe because there is more mystery, and less use of helicopters. Basically, it’s about a cranky food columnist who is trying to throw a wedding against seemingly insurmountable odds. And the military-trained hitman who is trying to protect her.

Omg, this storyline is insane, but I think it works for the book. Even when halfway though it you have a pretty good idea of what is going to happen, in the back of your mind, you are not really sure of what is happening. So I'm fine with that.
It's not an intellectual book by any stretch of the imagination.
It is just plain fun. I laughed out loud more times then I like to admit.
The pace was great, something was always happening, real page turner..
Loved the characters!
Oh, got oh so hungry too..
Now If you excuse me, I need to make myself some pecan pancakes.

Must not be in the right frame of mind for this one. Had to let it go.
