I happened across this book on tiktok and thought of hey this seems like a me book and i picked it up ahead of my other tbrs and oh god it's this book was written for me thank you so much for this
Zoltan was hot sweet witty and everything you'd want as a anti-hero. Averil was so sweet and courageous a little cliche at times but her banter was hilarious! The side characters were pretty likable too, liris ekkon graeme and i think the maid ems were !!! amazing. Even ylaine deserves a shout-out
The chemistry was there from the beginning maybe it was the soulmateism but i can appreciate funny banter so i wouldn't say this is enemies to lovers despite the characters' constant reminders
The ark where they had to separate was a bit eh for me when cleary they could've talked it out the moment something was wrong. And up until then they've been communicating v well too, it wasn't unrealistic it was just eh
Also huge shout out to averil for not wanting spawnsyet (i have the power of delusion and selective reading of my side) such a slay
Also also huge ginormous shout out to the gore and slight bodyhorror in this book. Did i come in thinking there be descriptions of gore and body horror? No. There weren't a lot but it's definitely more than what I'd expect from these types of stories so that's extra bonus for me personally
ALSO mermaid sex?????? Incredible!!! Astonishing!! Can't believe it wasn't just regular sex! We love a good mosnter fucking sesh wish there were more tho (lore wise and fucking wise)

Overall, i would've loved more mermaid lore but most things were pretty well thought out and rounded once the conclusion came about

Overall, a very enjoyable read, and was fun if you are a big fan of darker fairytale romances. I appreciated the overall story, and found the writing, tension, spice, and plot to blend together fairly well. I'd say the book delivers what it promises, and was an overall fun read.

I was a little weirded out by this man being 200 yo and her being 24
I didn't like the characters, I didn't like the plot, dual first person POV isn't really my thing, and it turns out mermaid smut is definitely not my thing either.
But if you like revenge melodrama, dual first person POV, and mermaid smut in your romance novels, it's probably excellent for you.
