The prose is definitely aimed at people half my age, but Westerfeld is such a gripping plotter, and I always want to know more about the world I loved in Uglies.

I'm in love with this series! (Have been since Uglies) That ending though.. I may be emotionally hurt for a while after that. You know it's a good book when it makes you feel everything the characters do.

A little bit off. A little bit like the original Uglies series is being grafted on to this this series and feeling forced. And maybe a bit of loss due to reading these as they come out rather than back to back. Not a lot of time covered in this one. And from a certain point of view, not a lot happens. But still Westerfield, still interesting, still readable. The societal changes in response to dust was part of that though it felt a little clumsy and I would have liked to have gone deeper into the palimpsest. 3.5 of 5.
