Slightly predictable but still an amazing story. A little upset on how it ended but hopefully it will redeem itself in the meet book.

I think this is personally the most interesting opening to a book Scott Westerfeld has ever written, and I'm not sure how I felt about it. Otherwise, I feel it follows the typical Scott Westerfeld formula we all know and love.
General Description: Frey is going back home, but not forever. She's on a rescue mission that requires her to change her face. She truly gets to see how the other side lives by having to infiltrate her old city by having to pass as a normal citizen. Can they get far enough to rescue Boss X, or will Frey face the shame of a failed mission?
The good:
- The action. The pacing. The external conflicts! I gobbled up the entire story line after the beginning.
- Seeing all the side characters come to life
- The internal conflict Frey has: I feel terrible for her, but I can't help enjoying how Scott has Frey handles her emotions, especially with the cameo surg.
- The opening to the fourth book at the end of this one was amazing.
The bad:
- The beginning felt like you were placed too much in the middle of a storyline. I feel like this is the first time Scott jumped back in time, and not in a long-term memory jump, but a minor jump in time. It was odd and shocking too start that left me confused like I missed something from the second book.
In short: Read the series if you like dystopian, fast paced, action books. Just re-read the end of book 2 then immediately pick this up so you don't miss anything? Maybe that would make it make more sense :)

Man aaah I love this series !! I loved the last line, cant believe I didn’t see it coming considering the title of the fourth book. Very sad about the ending. The whole narrative is coming to a beautiful close and I cant wait to see what happens in the next instalment. Like the Uglies series, I know these books will stay with me for a while yet

Feels like they just didn't care much with how messy this book was. It's still super fun and fast-paced with great themes just like the original series but this series just has a lot of editing errors.
