Loved Scott Westerfeld's series back in middle school and this one just continues the trend. I'm always so blown away by Westerfeld's world-building. From surveillance dust to model citizen algorithms to Futurist media cults, Westerfeld is a master at building and inviting readers into a realistic, compelling world.
My only, only small nitpick here, is that the last few chapters felt a bit rushed and a little too chaotic for me. Of course, it's meant to be a rapid buildup, but it was sometimes challenging to follow from page-to-page. I'm also not a huge fan of plot reveals without context/foreshadowing.
That aside, this was a truly gripping read that will satisfy any Westerfeld fan. And his signature cliff hanger will leave anyone just wishing the next book was out already! My advice to eager readers? Read it slowly and savor it. It's gonna be a while before the next one.

The last line of this book shocked me more than I could believe

So many plot twists in this one!
I was pleased to see so much focus on the different fronts of the war and how each group was processing it.
You really feel for Frey in this book as she spirals trying to determine her identity. She had to pretend to be her sister for 16 years before having to surge herself in this book for an attack. She doesn’t get 5 minutes to sit there and determine who she is as just Frey. Outstandingly written.

Good ending but I wish it would have tied into the original series more, the summary was a bit misleading.
This book got more into the city of Shreve, which I enjoyed. Seeing the way the people learned to rebel against their dictator was cool to see.
The ending of this book was really rushed and honestly not great. Having the clashing wills of both of the twins was interesting, but the motivations for Rafi's decisions aren't clear yet and I'm annoyed by that. Rafi killing Col was incredibly unexpected and quite frankly dumb.
I am interested to see what part Tally is going to play in the next book though.

The action really picks up here, as Westerfeld continues to explore what it means to have your own identity, how others reflect on you, and how it impacts you as a person to have true connections.
The stakes get higher in Mirror's Edge as Frey continues on her journey to save the people of Shreve and discovers some secrets of the city she thought she knew along the way.
This was a fantastic third book in the series, and left me eagerly looking forward to starting Youngbloods.

I am so pissed.
That cliffhanger was rude, and cruel, and totally unacceptable. But boy am I excited for the next one!
