This is a feel-good book sans the typical sappiness and cuteness - there are some darker, death-related things. The book is somewhat rough around the edges. There are some details that are simply not explored - I'm still curious as to why the boyfriend leaves with the cooking utensils in the beginning of the book. The food writing is celebratory, almost anthemic. This book did not make me want to eat - it made me want to cook.
This book is not bad but I guess it would have been better without so many "casual" elements put into the book to make it more interesting. The idea Ringo has about a restaurant hosting only a couple per time and with food thought on the details of the couple is nice, except the things happening after the dinner/lunch are somehow too unrealistic into a book which claims to explore inside the characters. Even the story about Ringo's mother seemed to me too much unrealistic to give to the book that bit of magic that I guess the author was thinking to put in.
Easy read. Shirt and sweet. Some lovely descriptions of food. A story of a girl who loses her love and her voice and returns to her estranged mother to eventually regain all.

Amor e cozinha, temas que aprecio muito de ler em conjunto. Foi uma leitura lenta e leve. Gostei muito de ver o desenvolvimento da personagem. Encheu-me o coração.
Este livro também tem uma leitura diferente, visto que é tudo seguido (não está dividido em capítulos), o que pode ser bom ou mau para alguns leitores. Mas, para mim, foi engraçado ler num formato diferente do habitual.

A beautifully written book sure to please the foodies. She described the meals with such eloquence, colours and aromas, that sometimes I could almost taste them myself.
