To be honest I couldn't care less or get into it so I won't bother and just hope for the best and read the last book.

I feel for the Darkling. Even after all he’s done, I understand where he is coming from. It makes me feel so sad and empty to know what he has been through and what he felt he needed to do to feel safe and whole again.

I've always seen that vulnerable side of the Darkling. It was fun to see it on paper. Wish it was longer.
“He understood then. The Grisha lived as shadows did, passing over the surface of the world, touching nothing, forced to change their shapes and hide in corners, driven by fear as shadows were driven by the sun. No safe place. No haven.
There will be, he promised in the darkness, new words written upon his heart. I will make one.”
Throughout the duration of the grisha trilogy I hungered for any kind of glimpse into the Darkling's life, into his motive, into his past. What drove him to become the man he did? What motivated him to go to such lengths to accomplish his vision? Origin stories for villains are my favorite because I'm always eager for any characterization that would make them more human. That being said this story was painful to read ouch.
