What’s this book about?
I really did like this book, very hard topic to cover so the author did well. The book is about Deja the main character of this book. Her family’s homeless living at Avalon homeless shelter. Avalon is not very nice. Her mom (ma) has a bad paying job that barely supports the family, and her dad (pop) refuses to work because of his coughing and head aches. Deja has to take care of her younger siblings who she wishes had a better life. Deja get enrolled in a school that just over looks the big new tower in New York. Deja uncovers how the two towers from years ago disappeared with her two friends Ben and Sabeen. Also finding out why Pops sick and what’s he’s hiding.

I liked this book because it’s really described a story about the pain and suffering of the towers falling from several points of opinion. It’s a great book to read around 9/11 and fully get a feel for what happened.
Dislikes
I disliked this book because the ending was a bit fast and blah. It could have been made more meaningful and a sweet end to the great book. I really wish I could have been left off satisfied but I just felt wanting a better end. We don’t really see Ma and Deja’s siblings at the end only that their living a bit of a better life.
Overall
Overall the only reason I gave this book a 4 was because of the end. :)

Read it while my 5th grader was reading it. Good read for them to have a better understanding of what it meant to people who were there.
