Waking up next to the bloody body of the girl you were seeing is frightening, especially when you're on summer break in Spain. And 20 years later, it still haunts you. Then she walks in your classroom, turns and runs away.

Coben knows how to hook you, but give up trying to figure it out until he lets you. Sami Kierce, an ex-policeman, still an investigator and teacher of classes on the subject was featured in one other Coben thriller. Here, he has a cadre of his students helping him, his own version of the Baker Street irregulars. Hopefully, we will see them again.  At the same time, the man convicted of the murder of Sami's fiancee is getting released from prison.  Is there a connection between the cases. Read to find out. Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

So many twists and turns - kept me guessing until the end. Fast-paced and a really good read!

Detective Sami Kierce's past comes back to haunt him! Now a teacher, he spots a familiar face at the back of the class, she runs. So kierce does what he does best, he investigates and soon discovers some secrets that should of been left buried...

This was a typical Harlan Coban story, full of twists, turns and misdirects and in true fashion I had lots of theories, some were predictable but others kept proving me wrong!
It's hard to review without giving anything away (Always is with thrillers) I really enjoyed this read, I like that his books are not to slow and jam packed with characters and lots going on. I don't think this was my fave of his but that's just because he has so many that I loved but a good 4 ⭐️ for me still!

I could picture this as a Netflix series for sure. Especially as this follows on slightly from Fool Me Once, it can be read as a standalone though if you have read Fool me once or watched it, you will know who Sami is.

Fast-paced, juicy crime thriller. There are two different mystery  threads throughout the book, and the little details matter, so pay attention. It’s a quick read
