First, a big thank you to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Nobody’s Fool is the second book in the Detective Sami Kierce series, but will work very well as a stand-alone. The past and present day collide and, as he tries to find the answers of what happened way back when, he finds himself knee deep in mystery, secrets, lies, revelations, and danger!
As night school teacher, Sami has his class looking into a cold case, Sami is seeking answers for an event that left him reeling and with lifelong questions ultimately changing the trajectory of his life.
There are twists, turns, and revelations. The ending was definitely a complete surprise – I never saw it coming.

Packed with Coben’s signature wit and smarmy main character charm, and littered with Easter eggs of places and characters from Coben’s long backlist. Listed as a sequel of sorts, it’s more a stand-alone page turner that revisits a side character from a previous “Fool” titled adventure. Though one of the major plot points makes absolutely zero sense as far as why it’s happening, the story is still a good read with great prose and endless sarcasm.
Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy of this novel.

Another fantastic book by Coben! Filled with so much intrigue, mysteries, twists and turns and a fun read. I kind of thought I did figure something out way earlier but didn’t know if it was actually true or what actually happened. I did figure out one twist but not the final ones. Overall an amazing book and yes I truly did read it in under 24 hours ;)

I can’t believe I am rating a Harlan Coben book so low. I look forward to his books every year and have read every novel he has written. I usually rate them at least 4 stars because they’re fun and fast paced….
Frankly, this book reads like it was written by someone else. It lacks maturity, mimicking his early work from his 20s. The voice is different, the humor is different, and the female characters aren’t written the way Coben usually writes them. They seemed very stereotypical and flat.
Highly recommend this author, definitely do not recommend this book.

Nobody’s Fool by Harlan Coben
Detective Sami Kierce #2
Before I read this book, I read Fool Me Once since that book first introduces several characters present in this second book. The most prominent recurring character is former Detective Sami Kierce. Now Sami is a private investigator due to several incidents that got him kicked off the police force. Policing/detecting is too much a part of Sami now and that's why he continues that type of work even if he's mostly on his own.
I like Sami, he identifies everyone in a class he teaches with a description and that made the huge number of characters easy for me to remember. Pretty much anyone he sees can get a description as an identifier but we also will see characters from the first book that I already know by their real names. As the story goes on we get to see just how interwoven the two stories are but I think this book will be very easy to follow even if you don't read the first book.
So much goes on and maybe there are a lot of coincidences or else it's just my brain that got tied into a big knot keeping track of things. Even so, it was fun trying to figure out what was going on and by the end of the book we get some helpful explanations which I needed to untangle my thoughts.
Sami is funny, he's a good guy, his clever wife Molly helps to guide him and he values her judgement and advice. He's also a loving and hands on dad, when he can be at home. Everything going on here kept Sami very busy but an interesting aspect of the book is that he'll send out a call to his best students and other friends when he needs some help with following, detecting, and solving. I can see the opportunity for a lot more crime solving with this group. Reading this book with DeAnn and Mary Beth made for some great discussion.
Thanks to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC.

In NOBODYS FOOL, written by Harlan Coben, Sami Kierce met Anna over twenty years ago on a dance floor in Spain while on a European backpacking trip following college graduation. Later, Sami Kierce woke up in bed next to Anna, and he was holding a knife, wet with blood. In the present time Kierce (previously a cop) went on a stake-out to catch a cheating husband; then, he taught a course on criminology as an ex-police detective. That’s when he thought he saw Anna. I continued reading to find out if the woman Sami Kierce saw was Anna. I wanted to know what would happen next.
I liked the casual-sounding voice Coben gave Sami Kierce. It was inviting, and I wanted to read more. As the story progressed, however, I found that I began to tire of the first-person present-tense writing. I do think the plot was interesting. This book followed FOOL ME ONCE, but it still could be read as a stand-alone. Thank you, Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley, for the chance to read and review an advance reader copy of NOBODYS FOOL.

There is a lot packed into Nobody's Fool. There may be too much. If you have read Harlan Coben before you have expectations of twists, turns, and more twists and turns. It's an enticing drama filled rollercoaster, just like you'd expect but, is there too much? I got bogged down in everything and couldn't keep it all straight. That may be a me problem so I'm still recommending you give it a try, especially if like Harlan Coben!
