Could revisit multiple times and you’d find little pieces of light each time

I felt so SEEN and so empowered. This is not something I need to "fix" - it is my superpower that I need to learn to harness.

I really loved this reading experience.
It is 5 stars for me personally.
I found myself noticing so many lessons in this book that I have actually already learned and worked hard on implementing in my life.
And that made me feel really good.
And honestly it also made me feel very proud of myself for having done all that work.
It‘s also very convenient because now I don‘t have to write any of that down lest I forget, I can just come back to this and remind myself of what is helpful.

Many lessons and insights were also new to me and while not all of them were useful in my situation, it was still valuable to know what might help others.

I also absolutely cannot stop talking about this book omg everyone has to hear about it.

I have been in therapy for so long now and obvs that is where I picked up on a lot of the tools and lessons in this work and a book could never substitute therapy, obviously. But, and this is my point, this book does feel like therapy a lot of the time.
It doesn‘t ask you to remember every piece of advice at all times. It simply says: this is here for you.

The reason I am giving 4 stars is because of a lack in intersectionality. She does acknowledge this in the author‘s note and I think that‘s good but I do feel like the chapter on the specific position of women in (U.S.) society could have done more.

Generally I really recommend this and my locals will be happy to hear that I have already bought the physical edition and it is on its way to me as I write this so you can borrow it!

as a self proclaimed self help book lover, this book is in the top three self help books i’ve ever read. I think this book opens up an importsnt conversation how mindset and mental health are intertwined but also independent. Would recommend for perfectionists and non perfectionists alike, thoughtful and well written. I found myself referencing in therapy often.

This book came at a perfect time for me and resonated deeply. Each example for types of perfectionist I identified as was like seeing myself. I haven't felt so seen.

As someone who has been reading a lot of Zen Buddhist books and such, some of the "solutions" were not new to me, but the contextual framing around the traits and experiences of different types of perfectionist made it so much easier to accept and take on the challenge of "acceptance" and letting go. All this time truly thought I was unable to be this way....and this book explained why I felt that way and how I can use it to empower myself instead of berating myself.

In true classical/procrastinator perfectionist fashion, I wish there were more choose your own adventure style solutions, tips, and advice for the type of perfectionist you are. There were some chapters that did this, but some more examples/methods would have been nice or resources for each.

Otherwise, right book, right time for me.
