With this story, the author has successfully wrenched my heart out, kicked me in the metaphorical balls, and then thrown me off a building. And I'm thanking her for it.
This has to be one of the absolute BEST mafia romances I've ever read (and I truly mean it because I read a lot of mafia romances). It had the perfect amount of slow burn, spice, and external drama to keep the story going, but my favourite parts of this book were the character development and the interaction between Paige and Misha. Oh, god, the emotional angst and the push-and-pull between these two had me crying at 3 am. I can't even hate Misha for it! This author was that good at making me feel things - and let me be honest again: I rarely ever feel the urge to cry over fictional characters anymore.

Nicole Fox was my introduction to the mafia genre and it wasn’t exactly a good one, but I read another one of her many duet’s and it was passable so here I am.
It doesn’t really feel like a mafia book? Almost like Mafia Lite™️ or maybe I’m just used to darker circumstances at this point.
Nicole tends to right a very specific type of banter that I would deem “out of pocket” like usually they just switch the subject or come back with very specific one liners that you’re like “you didn’t need to do them like that”.

Really enjoyed this back and forth between them and I didn't expect to. I'm not massively into mob bosses and that but this was different and I'm glad I gave it a go.
The only spoiler was that it was a cliffhanger. Hate that when I don't expect them. I will read the next book just so I can see them get their HEA. Unless that ends in a cliffhanger then I won't lol.

Paige has had some bad luck in her life. Absolutely trash parents, losing her best friend as a teenager, her husband left. And what makes it worse, she lost her house and job and all her money. As well as found out that her marriage wasn't even legal. So that husband that disappeared wasn't even really her husband.
