I loved this story. It's hard to explain why. It's fantasy written so well that it's believable & I did not want to put the book down. I am looking forward to the next 2 books in the trilogy.

I absolutely love this story. A beautiful love story set in ancient times Scotland (Alba) during the time of the Roman invasion. Jules Watson does an amazing job at drawing you into the ancient world and keeping you there. Dual POV.

I so wanted to like this book, but the set up was so Harlequin Romance that I had to put it down.

Puh, was für ein Wälzer. Ich bin erstaunt dass ich das Buch überhaupt zu Ende gelesen habe. Es ist das Erste einer Reihe und für mich leider auch das Letzte.

Keine Spannung, keine gute Story, nichts. Schade.

Books featuring Iron Age celts! What more could one want?

First off I didn't enjoy the fact that Rhian's fear of having sex was miraculously cured by being in some sense forced to have sex for a religious ritual. That just didn't sit right with me. Also, the character development just wasn't there enough for me with how long the book was. As for the historical bits, those were pretty interesting.

I will consider reading the next one seeing as I bought it in the hopes that it improves.

It's an interesting story but I thought the ending was contrived and somewhat problematic. I do like the way both characters have stakes and stuff to do and cultural backgrounds, but they actually come to not just care for each other but respect each others abilities. I liked that a lot. The culture being less restrictive about (female) sexuality was cool, but maybe taken a bit too far at times.

Set in 79 AD, this book tells of the native tribes of England as they deal with the challenges of the invading Roman army. It is a pagan story and revolves primarily around two characters who make a political alliance that eventually (about the last 100 pages of a 500 page book) yields a love match. The times being what they were, sexual mores are pretty loose. This book is the first of a trilogy, but I don't especially care.
