This review was originally posted on Bedtime BookwormI received and ARC of this book the Friday night Preview event at YALLWest this year (thanks publisher!). I hadn't heard anything about it prior to YALLWest, but a few of my friends were interested and I figured I would give it a shot. As much as I'm not a huge contemporary fan, I am half Korean so the cultural aspect of this book was a big pull for me. I went into the book with an open mind and to my surprise I really enjoyed it! To be honest, I had a hard time connecting with the main character at first. She came across as a very stereotypical Asian character who tried to be perfect at everything. However, once I got to know her backstory, I understood why she was the way she was a lot better. This contemporary was a fun read, perfect for the summer, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Korean dramas!
torn between two stars and three stars. the characters weren't very well fleshed-out, i wasn't entirely won over by the main relationship, and overall, the writing was just mediocre. it was a lot of harmless fun, but with such a killer premise, i just wanted to love it so much more. i did appreciate the main character's relationship with her father, but even that didn't get as much coverage as i wanted. also, she acts pretty ridiculously at times?? like, it's almost hard to empathize with her?
i really want to watch kdramas now, but that's probably the most enthusiastic i felt about anything once the book was finished.

This book highly called to me since I'm addicted to kpop, kdramas, korea and so many things korean related !!
Desi ace in all things except one - guys. She never had a boyfriend and she's always failing when it comes to flirt. But this day she meets one boy and she wants it to be different, to not run away because of her flailures (fail while flirting). So she sets up a plan, findind guidance in Korean dramas - "K Drama Steps to True Love".
Pretty cliché story throughout the entire book, all the events are easy to predict, just like in a kdrama > <
A kdrama manages to be funny and endearing and then crushing and powerful to still end up lovely with an happily ever after. This book was funny and cute but never much more than that. Even for me, as a reader, was a little creepy to see some of the things Desi made to follow through with the kdrama steps ! When it happens naturally it's one thing, when it's all planned... well, creepy ! But it still entertains and it was exciting to have some kdramas I've watched mentioned on this book. And of course now I want to go watch those other ones mentioned that I haven't yet watched (and that list in the end with kdrama recommendations, oh my god awesome).

A K-drama based on K-dramas, even if it was super cliché and I could guess a lot of the plot based on the summary it was still super entertaining! I read the book in a single sitting (save for a couple of 2 min. breaks to save myself from second hand embarrassment!)

Biasanya aku gak terlalu suka dng novel YA, terkadang tokohnya bikin gregetan saking keselnya, tapi novel ini kocak sekaligus bikin penasaran. Desi ini polos bgt kalo udh menyangkut cowok. Menurutku tahapan“ ini sangat membantu menciptakan peluang untuk Desi agar menjadi dekat dengan Luca, namun semakin lama, tahapannya semakin menggila 🤣. Ada beberapa drama yg aku kenali, salah satunya diterapkan oleh Desi dibagian akhir, dan itu menurutku tahapan paling gila yg ia lakukan 🤦🏻♀️.Wah Desi benar benar berniat sekali menggaet Luca.
Selain kisah cinta novel ini juga bercerita ttg keluarga Desi, bagaimana ia hidup berdua dengan Ayahnya setelah Ibunya meninggal, Desi yg selalu berusaha tdk membuat Ayahnya khawatir, Ayah Desi adalah Ayah idolaku 😍. Dannn ada Luca, si artis yang misterius. Oke aku terpesona pada Luca, dibalik sifatnya yg membangkang dia itu manis 😍. Aku terpesona dng passionnya dibidang seni 💕 apa lg ketika ia serius menggambar ulang grafiti, berasa aku yg berada disana menontonnya😂. Novel ini jadi salah satu novel terfavoritku tahun ini
