Desi has always rejected the K-dramas her dad watches as just silly romance. She’s always put more stock in things she can control, lists, good grades, extracurriculars to help her get into a good college. But when she meets a transfer student, a young artist, she wants to try out having a boyfriend, one of the things she’s never made time for thanks to her busy school career. Desi decides to tackle her boyfriend block by researching romance with the help of her dad’s K-dramas, and creating the list of events that will help win over her crush, Luca
Desi is hilarious and sweet. It’s cute that the first thing she could think of to help herself feel less unlucky was to write a formula based on K-dramas and then follow it as closely as possible. I love that her research comes from binge-watched TV with her dad. Goo’s writing is quick witted and quick paced, creating enjoyable scenarios for her characters to fall in and out of love in. It’s a romance, so you know the ending is going to be good, and readers get to enjoy the ride without too much fear of how it will all turn out.
Light hearted, I ended this book feeling excited to read more from Maurene Goo for those good feelings.

Growing up on J and K dramas this book was everything I've ever wanted out of a contemporary YA romance. The author nailed those peak moments of drama where you think it's all over, the cringe inducing moments of humiliation, and the characters you don't stop rooting for that make every drama I've ever seen special to me. This book gets a place of honour among them.
Fun, and I LOVE the K drama references <3 but I think that the main character went into psycho territory more than once, and I didn't like how controlling she was.
This adorable book will make you smile, laugh, cry, and want to binge as many K-dramas as possible. Maurene Goo's voice is unique and fun, and I spent hours lost in this touching story.
DNF at around 50%: this girl is insane and I couldn't handle it any more
I love this beautiful piece of literature for existing in my life.
K Dramas are my everything, and I’m going to binge watch every series that I hadn’t watched that’s mentioned in this book.
Thank you Maurene Goo.
