Kinsey finds herself pulled in on a cold case where a teenaged girl was killed and a father is still intent on clearing the name of his son. Unfortunately the prison break didn’t do him any favours.
Caught up in all the intrigue and interplay between characters that this small town brings, Kinsey can’t be sure who she can trust as the bodies start to fall.
I always enjoy these books and I think the authors’ excellent descriptive writing overcomes the fact that these are now a little dated. Still very enjoyable!

Another exciting mystery novel about Kinsey Millhone! This one gets her out of Santa Teresa and explores a new setting which gave it a different energy than previous books.
I was a bit disappointed by the identity of the killer and their motivations for doing it. It didn’t quite hold together but I also have to say that I wasn’t able to guess the killer’s identity at all so was surprised when it was revealed.
All in all, I continue to enjoy this series and look forward to reading more of them. They’re quick, easy reads that keep me entertained and engaged. What more can you ask for from a book?

Restaurants used to have smoking and non-smoking sections. It's all coming back to me now, how it was.
Bonus points for this installation of the series taking place in a town my where my in-laws used to live, which I recognized from the distinctive hotel described in the book, at which I have actually stayed. Ha!
This was delightful, and claustrophobic, graphic and unexpected, and I really dug it.
Kinsey's a spectacular wild hedgehog of a human being, but what really blew me away was that usually when an author makes a home for their series in one particular town, and really goes in on that town, any book they write in a different place is somehow seriously less than. This is not the case here. Grafton was as at home in Floral Beach as she was in Santa Barbesa.
Delicious, with that weird gummy taste you get in your mouth after you drink a Fruit Punch-flavored Capri Sun.

honestly the fact i was supposed to be rooting for a man who dated a freshman in high school when he was 20 is the most insane part of this book
and i fear this murderer may have been a little easy to clock, but hey it's a cheesy murder mystery
