The plot twists were easily predicted, and I'm not that clever. I'm curious enough to possibly continue, but not right away. I had such high hopes for this book, and I feel let down. It was OK, but there are some GLARING plot holes.

I absolutely loved this book. Everything from the setting and the vibes to the characters was perfect and the twists were delicious. I honestly love Caldon so much!!! And the ending. UFF. My June tbr had to wait because I couldn't resist reading the other two books within a day lmao.

I LOVE THE VINDICATION OF BEING RIGHT but also not entirely guessing the plot twists AAAA this was such a good first book of a trilogy and rekindled my enjoyment of ya books. love that there was a colourful ensemble of characters, that there were several plot lines which were each intriguing (perhaps the trials were the weakest plot line since i knew she was going to survive them all by virtue of there being two more books)… and also planted the seeds of the wider political landscape well that i can foresee the conflict of the sequel. SO JUICY CANT WAIT TO START THE GILDED CAGE IMMEDIATELY (scared for kiva and jaren angst tho)
