This book is so conflicted for me.
On one hand, the characters and character work are great, and clearly that’s where the heart of these stories lie.
But in all honesty, if you took away the entertainment factor of the club and their comedy, the stories wouldn’t have a single leg to stand on. When you actually take five minutes to think about the crimes committed in this book, motives make absolutely no sense.
That’s not even mentioning the fact that I EASILY guessed the guilty party in this book.
Plus, in the fourth installment specifically, it’s hard to even enjoy the character dynamics (given that they are the heart and soul of these books) because the actual gang seems so disconnected with where their development is heading
If the story these books had to tell matched the quality of the character work, crime fiction history would be made. Until then, a 3.5 will suffice

De eerdere delen waren grappig en schattig en knap in elkaar gezet. Deze was opeens ook nog emotioneel. Altijd fijn om door een boek overvallen te worden terwijl je in de trein zit en dan de strijd moet voeren met jezelf tussen huilen in de trein, of stoppen met lezen.
