This was a body-positive easy read. If you aren’t “plus size”, never dealt with mean girls, and haven’t struggled keeping friends, then you might not really enjoy or relate to this book. However, I’ve been a “big girl” for most of my life, was bullied for my weight, had comments made when I dated guys that were thought to be out of my league, and have a PCOS diagnosis… so, I’m basically Rory. I really appreciated this story and was definitely crying when everything fell apart and again when it was put back together

In this book, Rory is an overweight high schooler who is picked on because of her looks by the popular girls, but she is anything but a pushover. Because she stands up for herself, she ends up accepting a dare to get the most popular boy in school, Beckett, to take her to homecoming.
As expected, it isn't smooth sailing and the twists along the way make you want to keep reading. I had a hard time putting this book down at quite a few points and finally finished it at midnight because I just couldn't stop.
I really liked that Rory, despite being bullied, stood up for herself and what was right. She and the other girls she befriends along the way are real and good for each other and honestly I think their friendship is the driving force of the story, not her relationship with Beckett which is refreshing for a "get the guy" book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series and will definitely be a long time fan of Kelsie Stelting!

I have read a few reviews of people saying there was a lot of immature drama…….its high schoolers! Does no one remember what high school was like and all of the stupid drama?
Definitley a young adult story but I liked it! It was well written and a fun read! It’s for sure relatable with all ages. There are still mean girls and I loved that Rory stood up for herself and got the guy in the end! I struggled with Rory’s mom in the beginning, some of the things she had her do made my blood boil! Who makes their high school student take a pregnancy test when it’s obvious she isn’t sexually active? Her mom is a teacher at the school and knows she doesn’t have friends or boyfriends. How humiliating and a great way to destroy your daughter. I thought the books events were very realistic and a good read for someone in high school that is struggling.

sweet story about overcoming your negative voice & finding your friends
This book gave us a girl who was shy & smart & a talented artist who stood up to the class bully.
She made a bet that also let her try for her heart’s desire.
With some amazing friends who reminded her of her real worth, Rory goes for her dream guy.
It is sweet, gentle, & sometimes hard.
If you like teens coming into their own, you might give this one a read.

5 stars for Curvy Girls Can’t Date Quarterbacks by Kelsie Sterling. This is book one in The Curvy Girls Club series. This is a young adult romance at its finest. “That was what you were trained to do as a plus -size girl- coverup. Turn around. Hide. Don’t expose anyone to your body in case it made them uncomfortable. Never mind how that secrecy made you feel like your body was something to be ashamed of. According to our society, your body wasn’t for you, It was for you to show everyone else.”
Rory is the “big girl” and all she wants is to be happy. After a diagnosis that changes her life, she makes a bet with the school bully/ the it girl at school. Can a girl like her get the sexy quarterback that she has had a crush on forever to fall for her? Beckett is the popular boy who wants to be more than a pretty face. This book hit me right in the gut. Having always been the big girl and never feeling like enough was how I spent, my teenage years. This book was about more than romance, it was about finding beauty in one’s self no matter what you look like. This is all about self-esteem. Its also about how life sucks as a teenager. I wish would have read a book like this growing up. I think it would have helped. If you want a sweet romance, then Beckett and Rory’s story is for you.

I liked the premise of this book but the main f was sometimes a little much for me. she came off whiney and the world is the problem not me.
