Third in the Strange Angels urban fantasy series for young adults revolving around a young svetocha trying to survive a world of vampires and djamphirs who don't seem to want her to live.

The Story
Dru is finally at the Schola Prima in New York City. And funnily enough, she still doesn't feel safe. Oh, she has her Guard and Graves stays at her side morning, noon, and night, but something is definitely off. Especially with Anna, the only other known svetocha.

As the weeks go by, Dru begins to loosen up, to forget what it's like to be hunted by vampires. True, trying to save Ash does take up much of her free time, but Dru knows it will be worth the effort. She has to meet with the Council, six very dangerous djamphir however youthful they appear. Once in awhile, she has to endure meetings with Anna. The Red Queen. The leader of the Council. A woman who begins to appear in her true-dreams.

The Characters
Dru Anderson is the svetocha. A creature rare in the Real World. Desired by both sides for the powers she possesses. After losing her father, Dru has been on the run with Graves fighting to survive.

Graves has been helping Dru from the first. Fellow students, then comrades on the run, Graves was bitten by Ash, a werewulf. Luckily, something about Graves changed the process becoming a loup garou instead of a werewulf.

Christophe is djamphir and the son of Dru's worst enemy yet he is also her Guardian Angel protecting her from his father and other vampires. Seeking always to keep her safe and root out the traitor to the Order.

Samuel "Dibs" and Bobby "Stack" are both werewulf and friends from the satellite schola. They were part of the Pack which escaped the burning schola and their attackers along with Dru and Graves.

Anna is also svetocha and the head of the Council, the Red Queen, in charge of everyone in their world. The Council itself consists of six other djamphirs: Bruce is princeps and Kir is loyal to Anna; Hiro, Alton, Marcus, and Ezra make up the rest. Dru's guard is headed up by Benjamin while Leon appears to be his second.

My Take
Lord, how stupid can one woman be!?? The clues are dropping like anvils around her and she still doesn't put it together?? It takes until the end of the book before she realizes who her enemy is. Who the traitor is. She hasn't figured out what Augie was???

Her life has been under attack since her father died and she continues to question why she needs extra protection..? Her Grandmom has been teaching her to pay attention to her instincts.
SpoilerHer instincts tell her Anna is bad news. So, does she tell anyone about the crap she's wading through. Oh no…that would deprive Dru of her opportunities for whining, whinging, and whimpering. Not to mention that she wouldn't then have all the nasty adventures. She won't even talk to Graves about the sneak attack on her. And then she gets all pissy because he gets mad at her for holding out on him. I wanna smack her!

I think I keep reading this hoping she'll die… I mean Dru even mentions that she can tell which djamphirs are for and against Anna. She knows she's in trouble. So, she figures she'll run away. Again. People can't help if they don't know. Why does Dru even consider believing anything that comes out of Anna's mouth? Christophe has always stood up for her. What positive thing has Anna ever done for her?

Then there's the attack. She practically sees it coming so does Dru do anything to prevent it, to protect herself? Why, no, what would be the fun in that???

And, the weird thing is I keep reading this...

The Cover
The cover looks like a dark prom picture with a casual Graves and Dru in an upswept do. Graves looks like the actor who plays Jacob Black from Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series. The title feels appropriate as Anna certainly does display her Jealousy of Christophe leaving her for Dru's mom.

I really do like this series, especially compared to a lot of YA vampy novels out there. My issue with it is that it's a little too complicated. The politics and the type of creatures. I find myself often pausing because I'm just to understand the hierarchy and such. So methinks perhaps that's a little detailed, because I get the main story and can follow that. The rest of it seems just overkill.

ANd I love Leontus, Dibs, and Shanks. just saying. :)

I know that writers have to fulfill a certain amount of pages for a book. But, sometimes, I think it would be better for writers to just write their story until it needs to end organically. If it takes more pages and the plot is interesting enough to sustain it, great. If not, well, write yourself a shorter but crazy-compelling piece that will still get me excited to read on and not have to repeat paragraphs over and over. I feel like this book could have been combined with one of the others in the series, both with the fat trimmed, and it would've made one great book. But, alas, that is not the case.

This book was more on par, for me, with the second in the series (which isn't a great thing). I'm glad we got out of the backwaters Schola but while the new place was shiny and fancy, it was...still kind of boring. The story consisted of: Dru missing her old life, Dad, Gram, Mom; Dru missing Christophe, then missing Graves; Dru missing the big freaking sign hanging over Anna's head pointing down saying, "EVIL BITCH" with neon letters. I mean, why does Dru have to be the last one to get it? She meets Anna, instantly feels the wrongness about her. Anna telegraphs her feelings pretty well throughout the entire book. We see how everyone around is on edge with Anna. We get a bloody dream sequence/memory flashback about Anna visiting Elizabeth right before she is killed.

So I was honestly a little surprised when Dru is freaking out at the Trial, not wanting to hear the 'truth' about how Anna is the traitor. This whole, 'but you're a svetocha, too, how could you want to hurt your own people' schtick that was supposed to be the reason she was so 'blind' to Anna's intentions struck me as incongruous with what we know of Dru. She may be a teenager, but I didn't think she was that naive. SHE was the one who kept saying you couldn't trust a mean-mouthed cheerleader.

Also, wherever the author is going with Christophe...wha? STOP with the freaking love triangles! It takes away from Dru and Grave's storyline when Chris suddenly shows up and Dru can't keep it in her pants (figuratively speaking). Slight spoiler for the next book:
Spoiler(The next book, which I am reading now, is still driving me crazy with this crap. I know that Graves and Dru never really said 'we're an item' but she keeps saying he's IT for her, yet here she is sticking her tongue down Christophe's throat at any chance she gets while Graves is being Broken. What the crap?)
I would've preferred a Dru that still slightly scared of Christophe despite that she wants to trust him. I want someone in literature who knows that a dude who is way too old for you who also kinda liked your mom is NOT good dating material (aged vampire and young slayer only worked on Buffy, people, and even then, look how it turned out). Graves also has so much more personality than Chris. Everything gets slightly more boring when you keep describing one of your male leads actions as 'staring silently', 'sitting still as a statue', etc. How about some dynamics??

It also pissed me off that she thought Graves left without her. Kidnapping was like, her fifteenth thought on the topic of his being missing. And of course, once she realizes what happens to him, it's "all her fault". Again.

Also -- can she just bloom already? Every time they talk about 'blooming' it kinda creeps me out, like all these older uncles discussing a tween going through puberty. Weird images, and I can't make my brain stop it. So just let it happen already so we can stop hearing that phrase.

I know I sound like I hate these books, but I don't. Once the action gets going I get swept along, and I love some of the characters (Graves, Shanks, Leon) and wish I could fall back in love with others (Kick-ass Dru). I had high hopes for the series, so it's a bit disappointing to see it go down some predictable routes.

ok,so this series, agrgg.
I do like it, i do.
its just that some parts are such a drag to read, i have to force myself, sometimes my eyes glase over. like the meetings with the council(bar the first one) or just when drus talking. its like this in all the books. they dont start to get real interesting till the midle. sure theres some good tip bits in there to keep you going( i especially liked the shoping sceen in this book. now that was a laugh.) but most of its just mind numbing. i just want a book that grips your all the way through. this ones good, quite good just, ... missing something.
just when you think your going to have to hold yours eyes open it grabs you, write at the end. thats what keeps me going with this series, i have to know what happens!
Spoiler do they find graves !!! is he broken.
do we get more of christophe.
anyway its a good book( i use the term losely).

This time I was not overly obsessed with Graves's unibrow, thank you.

While reading Jealousy I was just gradually becoming more and more upset about the amount of times Dru cries, begs for Graves or Christoff, or complains about how terrible and miserable her life is.

Basically, I wished Jealousy was more about girl-power and less poor-girl-who-cries-someone-save-her. Seriously Dru, set up your game, grow some lady balls and start doing something instead of letting people try to kill you or hurt someone close to you.
GROW SOME LADY BALLS MISSY.

Okay their will be a few spoilers in this review.. because I would like to vent my frustration out in words.

Why did I give Jealousy 4 stars?

Well although I thought it was pretty awesome, like the others that's just what it was 'like the others' although to be fair I thought that it was a trilogy so this would be the ending... but as soon as i started reading I had a sinking suspicion that I was wrong.

Anyway, it had a lot of the same elements as the others, confusion, just got comfortable and BAM!! all shit broke loose... it actually wasn't that bad but Im just saying that although we find out little tidbits here and there we dont get full answers.

Another thing that annoyed me was I was sure she would finally 'Bloom' in this book, but noo she is very very close but still not quite there yet... if she doesnt bloom in the next book I'm going to get cranky!

Okay and now down to the real reason for the deducted star.. the main problem with my being pissed yet in love with these books..... the boys!
WTF.... Christophe okay i liked you a little bit because you sounded yummy, but no you were still #2 guy in my books and well I thought nothing much would happen because you remind our heroine of her FATHER!!!! but no you went and let her drink from you... and although you said it was only 'three pulls' pffft i think she went longer and now are bonded or something (they mention this for a brief moment) -- This is only speculation in my brain. Then you had to turn all I love you and no one else and set off the fireworks in Dru (which aparently did not happen with Graves.... GRRRR)

and now onto Graves.... the guy she should be with!! I dont think I need to go into detail about how amazing and... awesome Graves is. And now he's been kidnapped.

I feel sorry for Dru because hey at the moment Im loving both guys as well and I would like it if she could split herself into two and be with both of them!!

Now that my frustration is vented I need to go finish reading 'That Eye, The Sky' for class today >_<

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! i am so torn between Christophe and Graves!!! :( just when im like mm hmm, yup, her and Graves, the next minute, i have my fingers and toes crossed that Dru and Christophe will be together!! It is really hard to balance a proper, rip-your-heart-asunder love triangle, and i have to say that Lili St. Crow is an expert at it!

A great refreshing read on an overdone subject. The only thing i didnt like was that the antagonist was the run of the mill cheerleader type with practically no redeeming qualities...lets have a couple, just to make it interesting, you know?? And that Dru, who has been through a lot, and is the poster child of a tough girl, always seems to question herself in this book, and hesitate. (on her feelings as well as her actions). Ok, if you want to leave the Schola, then DO IT!! Ok, if you LOVE graves, THEN SAY IT. I LOOVE how we are finally finding out what happened to Dru's mom, and I seriously want her to bloom already!! haha.

Cliffhanger ending, just a warning!!!!!!!!!!!!! But the next is already out so my recommendation is to buy both at the same time so you can continue the story ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Solid 5 stars.

Not as good as the previous two books, "Jealousy" is mostly filled with Dru crying, taking showers, and trying to decide what boy to love. May I just say for the record I am so OVER love triangles? Seriously. However, toward the end the author redeemed herself with a great girl fight and a good battle with vampires. Still, I hope the next book is better.
