Trippy, with a decent rhythm, and wow illustrations. There’s a sense of deep thinking and wonderment and contemplation of the universe and your own place in it, all undergirded with just a hint of pink elephants on parade.

This is a really weird book. I really liked some of the artwork, but the text was not appealing to me and seemed a mismatch with the art. This is a book I would not enjoy reading to children.

I understand that the message was supposed to be how we are all full of life and that is beautiful but I just found the book a little far-fetched. I don't know that a kid would have been able to connect the dots of: wait first flowers are pretty and now we're talking about blood. It didn't feel completely developed to me.
The illustrations we're beautiful though!!!

I loved the colors and the fact that it was obviously drawn with crayon, but the words... they weren't interesting. I wish I liked the words so this book would have been 5 stars.

Do your eyeballs a favour and pick this one up. I'm not terribly perceptive at discerning art mediums, but I think this is done exclusively in crayon which just makes what was accomplished even more stunning. (I have vague memories of finding crayons' waxiness incredibly frustrating in attempting to apply colour as solidly as I wanted). It could be pencil crayon, but either way it is vibrant and imaginative and transports you into a moment of fully being in nature that I'm always seeking. Recommended for all.
