This was another great Stacy Reid book and I flew through this audiobook. Thank god Stacy has a better narrator for this series.
I really loved the heroine and how feisty she was. She was a complete hoyden, much to Tobias' regret. She was pretty badass. I also loved how she went toe to toe with Tobias and didn't take his attitude or judgements. Tobias could be really frustrating with his refusal to have feeling or fall in love, but I understood his reasons.
The best part was his big gesture and groveling. He stepped up.

Livvie deserved better. I was not a fan of Tobias nor who Livvie became when with him.

Got a bit melodramatic toward the end, and it was a bit more explicit than I usually prefer, and wasnât really historically accurate⊠but it was quick and fun enough.

This book relied a lot on having a âhoydenâ FMC (Olivia), an anti-scandal MMC (Tobias), and the conflict that naturally comes with that type of pairing.
Tobias was an asshole for most of the book, as he tried to leash his own emotions/passion and expected Olivia to do the same (cue: angst). Not gonna lie, the whole âI cannot control myself around youâ drama worked for me.
Even though there were parts of the story I didnât love (the villains were plot devices more than characters), it was fast-paced and very readable. I found myself swept up in all the angst and passion in this book â two things that Stacy Reid always does well.
