Very sweet queer love and gender diverse representation. I will say some of the plot points didn’t make sense,
like Dahlia was a great cook that could do so much at first but then people would be surprised she made it far. It felt like the author changed who they wanted to win the end competition
. Though they came together in the end, it was a pretty simple quick read.

To think that I almost did not finish this one.

Three stars is quite harsh, but I thought the beginning was SO SLOW. I went back to recheck this out after finals, and I loved the ending! London and Dahlia are the perfect pair. Made me cry when Dahlia came out as queer to her mom.

It was a fun book, but I put it down in January... I might read it one day, but that's not going to be anytime soon.

Loved many things about the book, but it was ruined by a few details. As a vegetarian, reading about meat cooking was not great. Also, I really disliked chapter 18, because I find public sex disgusting. On the other hand, the epilogue was very silly and unrealistic, but this seems very common in romance books. That said, it's definitely not healthy
that they moved together after only a few months of dating.

But, on the other hand, I found both main characters relatable and well written. They show to be complex, with insecurities, and allow themselves to show vulnerability. I found the subplots surrounding the families also interesting, especially Dahlias's and her mum. I thought their
conversation was great, and since I was reading a book on existentialism at the same time, I couldn't help it but make connections between the idea of the true self that goes against society, and what Daliah's mum admires from her daughter.

i absolutely adored this book!!! i loveee the grumpy x sunshine trope & anita kelly executed it so well. i fell in love with london’s attraction to dahlia and how she intrigued them so much. it kind of reminded me on the tarzan/jane dynamic from the old disney cartoon. they were just fascinated with dahlia and i ate up every single second of it.

plus the cooking show element was so unique!! i’ve never read anything else like it before. READ THIS!!!!!

i really wanted to love this one and i just didn’t.

what was a really hyped up book on bookstagram seemed really cute and it was my first queer romance, with one of our mc’s being non-binary and i’d never read a book like that before.

i really think it was the plot as a whole that really didn’t do it for me. it’s all about baking (i know nothing about the show but it gave me the great british baking show vibes) and i honestly hate things like that or any type of reality tv stuff, which is exactly what this book was

also for being a queer romance, our other mc who is female was recently divorced from her husband but had known she was queer throughout their marriage. with london being her first person outside of her husband to be in a relationship with, i thought it would shed some light on the turmoils and figuring things out aspect of their relationship but it felt like she never really fell for them, and it was only ever london who seemed romantically interested

i don’t believe that had anything to do with her sexuality and more the author not making it clear she returned their feelings really at all. when they share their first romantic moment it surprised me because i felt they hadn’t gotten to that point yet and from them on it’s pretty steamy between them and i just couldn’t understand how.
