this was a very cute and lovely read but it may have been entirely ruined by the last paragraph of the whole book which reveals dahlia keeps her onions in the fridge

Entertaining rom-com set in the world of a baking competition show, with two characters who you just want to hug and say “You got this.” Loved them both and loved their story.

I instantly disliked Dahlia. Her energy in the first few chapters was so unattractive. London was the saving grace. They seemed surprisingly normal for a romantic book character, which I enjoyed. I wish the baking competition had been more prevalent. This book tackled much bigger and more critical issues, so I understand why the competition got pushed to the side. It's just a shame, because the competition felt like background noise and it could have been a more central focus. Dahlia and London rarely connect on set, and most of their relationship develops on weekends. That's realistic, but I wanted more food content. Oh well. At least I got plenty of they/ them pronoun practice.

This was great. Characters that felt like real people, family difficulties that got some resolution, and a fantastic setting that created tension and dynamism.

A very cute queer rom com about a bisexual woman and a nonbinary person who fall in love on a cooking competition show.

This is my first non-binary romcom and I actually enjoyed it for the most part. It took some time getting used to the "they/them" pronouns as I was listening to the audiobook but the story as a whole as enjoyable. I started it for the baking show aspect and got invested in the characters and the growing love story. I liked the behind the scenes aspect of how baking shows likely are to get the ratings needed. The writing was well done and it felt respectful of everyone. I didn't expect things to get so steamy and as often as it did but London and Dahlia built a relationship around trust and acceptance. Both of them were able to learn about each other as the days went on and I enjoyed their adventures outside of the cooking show. I'm happy with how it ended and it was a really cute story.
