I listened to half and read half. I felt the audiobook, read by the author, was a better format, but the book was still pleasant enough. It was a light, sweet glimpse into Barrymore's life, though I felt like the conclusion was a bit abrupt.

My opinion of this book changed chapter by chapter. At first I didn't like how dramatic Drew Barrymore read the book, but by the end I didn't mind it. I still didn't like when she screamed though.
Memoir that is down to earth yet inspires you to take one day at time and keep yourself open to opportunity because in the end the good will outweigh the bad

First of all, I am finding non-fiction more captivating than fiction these days for whatever reason. And I hadn't read anything about this book or any reviews of the same on Goodreads before starting to read this one. I came to know about the book from Drew Barrymore's interview on the Ellen show and I like the front cover. No one ever said you shouldn't read a book coz of it's cover so yeah I wanted to read the book. And then I forgot about it until one of my connections on Goodreads read it and I bought the book last Friday late night coz I wanted to read something different.
Now about the book, I enjoyed reading the book from the beginning till the last page and it is one of the books that I have read at a fast pace. It was a very good journey through the many short stories from the adventurous life that Drew lead. I wasn't aware of the many struggles that she had to come across and the narration depicts a very food picture and takes you through the development of a child to an adult.
After I finished the book, I read some of the reviews on Goodreads, and many have compared it to memoirs written by other actresses, even criticized the language.. I believe I am in no position to criticize the language or sentence framing, but I think whatever that the author wanted to convey gets conveyed very well and that is what mattered to me. But I do agree with the others' opinion that the random order of the stories in the book not in a chronological way does make it a little confusing. In the interview, Drew had mentioned that "when we remember moments from our life, they are not in chronological order" and that did make sense... because why does everything have to be conventional... because why not change it..
