Four stars mostly for the nostalgia factor. This was my favorite series as a kid. I love the idea of toys coming to life, and I had buckets of plastic cowboys and Indians.
The story is simple, but fun to read, and I'm eager to move on to the sequels.

Just listened to the audiobook (read by the author) with my kids in the car. This is an example of a bad cover making me never wanting to read the book, but it was a hoot. Very funny and imaginative. poking forward to reading the rest of the series with my kids.

Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I would call this one a "boy book." I mean, it would be cool if you could bring your toys to life but I don't necessarily think sticking them in an old bathroom cabinet would do the trick.

More racist than I would I thought for a book published in 1980. Guess I was more optimistic about that than I should be.

May or may not have actually read this for school. If we did, that was probably in fourth grade or so. Eh. I know we watched the movie at some point.

I absolutely loved this book as a kid. I was captivated by the idea that toys could have lives of their own. I think that's why the Toy Story films have been so successful.

Caitlyn claimed to be uninterested in this so I read it (I never had) to see if I should push it on her. I'm pleased with the fantasy elements and the growth of the child characters. It's a product of it's time, though, with the character of Little Bear especially pretty much a walking cliche. I'll give Caitlyn a summary but if she does read it, we'll have a discussion about the portrayal of Little Bear.

Yet another series that aided me in discovering my love of reading.

My aunt took me to see this movie when I was a young child. It made me believe in the possibility of magic. It was very refreshing to read the book. It made the magic come alive for me again.
