Great for the spooky season!

I enjoyed some of the stories. I remember when Stephen King could write without using the "F" word in all of his stories. There's a good chance if I read another Stephen King book, it will be an oldie.

a real mixed bag, some of these are great, and some are complete skips. the skips also tend to be extra long. this is a reread, I found more appreciation for a few stories I already liked, but the misses are worse than before.

The title story is the best one, and riding the bullet

Rounded down from 4.14 star average.

Another short story collection down. I’d rank this one very high!

Highlights: 1408, Little Sisters of Eluria, All That You Love Will Be Carried Away

Not for me: The Death of Jack Hamilton, In The Death Room, Riding the Bullet

This was a very solid book with interesting stories, and none of them were particularly bad or boring!

By a mile my favourite King short story collection. I liked every story! Big standouts were The Little Sisters of Eluria (I am shameless Dark Tower trash), Everything's Eventual, and Riding the Bullet.

Stephen King never fails to entertain, that's why I sometimes pick his books when I'm stuck in a reading rut. Of course, the quality of his stories vary but the way he weaves his plots and crafts his dialogues always assure entertainment.

I like this collection of short stories, not a tight collection but still can give you the creeps. There are 14 stories here but I only absolutely adored 4. My favorites are:

1. The Man in the Black Suit, where a child encounters a devil (or Satan or somebody nefarious) on his way to the river
2. In the Deathroom, where a journalist is interrogated and tortured in a fictional totalitarian Latin American country
3. Everything's Eventual, where a 'gifted' teen is offered the good life in exchange for something grave
4. The Road Virus Heads North, where a man realizes a painting he bought in a yard sale is coming to life
slow-paced

Probably the best short story collection I've ever read. Every story stood on its own as a great read, but together they added to an unmissable Stephen King collection.

Fun! I do like getting my hands on an anthology, and this one is very well written.

Whew! This book exhausted me in the best weay. It's been a while since I've read a book that makes me hold my breath.
Great collection of short stories!

DID NOT FINISH: 15%

I found it difficult to want to pick up the book. The short stories weren't bad, but I usually wanted something longer and more complex.
