If you like Korean movies like Oldboy you will probably like this Japanese thriller. It stretches the bounds of believability but that's part of what made it so entertaining. Absorbing read.

I expected a cosy murder mystery to take my mind off my final exams. But I got a mysterious and upsetting narrative following two characters who are supposedly evil and mysterious. Sometime they border on superhuman with extraordinary abilities that I cant fathom. This was coupled by frequent POV changes that leave you baffled of their identity. Overall, with the very predictable storyline, the writing remains the sole consolation. If not for my utter boredom and laziness to find a new book to read and lets say a very evident sunk cost bias- I would have had a hard time finishing this book.

If I'll say one thing for now it'll be this: I really appreciate all the little ways in which the author allows us to infer bits of the mystery through subtle narrative coincidences (rather than spell things out to us).
