Nothing super surprising in here but definitely very helpful for thinking through lots of decisions I have questions about! I can see myself using this as a reference book as Baby B moves through his early stages. I think this and Expecting Better made me much more comfortable with pregnancy/childbirth/post-birth and have been worthwhile reading for a new mom!

I loved that Oster decided to write this book, as it expanded deeply on the newborn stages. I really liked the majority of the chapters of this book, but it felt less data focused than Expecting Better, with more focus on some topics where less data is available (where she just included anectdotal evidence). On the topics where there is plentiful data, it felt rushed and not as thorough and well-rounded as I would have liked. Overall, though, this book had some really great information, but you might need to sort through what’s relevant to you.

pretty good in terms of looking at studies as a whole and making recommendations from an economist's pov
